No Fun Fundraising

I don’t think anyone truly understands the pressure of fundraising (unless you are relying on it for your livelihood and that of over 60 staff).

Today I am sitting at my dinning room table, the fire roaring and the rain pouring outside. Some chicken is thawing in the sink ready for me to cook something for dinner, while one daughter is watching a movie and the other in the shower getting ready for the dreaded hair braiding.

What I am doing in between being a mum is googling for grants, fundraising ideas and trying not to stress about it all. I am a believer that if you are in the right place doing the right thing the money will come. It doesn’t make it easier for me not to stress though.

I think that is why I keep myself busy....knitting, making candles, baking or cooking. Yes, I knit! It keeps my down time off my mind of raising funds. But the reality is that my mind never rests from fundraising. I often joke about it with friends but it truly is no joke. There is definitely no FUN in fundraising.

So as you enjoy a coffee, tea or coke zero while reading this, please know that I am typing this wondering if this is a waste of time and should I be goggling more fundraising ideas!
